Description:
From Playa Tamarindo, Playa Flamingo, and the Papagayo area, it takes around two hours to reach Rincón de la Vieja National Park.
This intermediate-level 2-hour walk is suitable for most. You will be in a transition forest where you may see birds, coatis, and three types of monkeys, including the spider monkey. You will observe a lot of volcanic activity, such as fumaroles, lagoons, volcanic mud, and the smell of sulfur.
Rincon de la Vieja is the largest volcano in Guanacaste at 1916 meters high and 15 km (9.32 miles) wide. This giant is known as THE COLOSSUS OF GUANACASTE, from which approximately 32 rivers flow. The volcano is around 600,000 years old. You can capture the beauty of the area with your camera.
After your hike, we stop by Liberia on the way home to see a 200-year-old church and then make another stop for a typical lunch and a chance to shop at a large souvenir shop and a small supermarket.
